Cindy Carter is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), which is the nation’s only recognized independent certifying body for dog trainers. She is also a Control Unleashed® Certified Instructor, one of the first in the country and the first in South Carolina. Cindy completed the course at the prestigious Karen Pryor Academy fir Animal Training and Behavior.
Cindy has worked as a professional dog trainer in the Charleston area since 2008. Like many dog trainers, she discovered her life’s calling by helping a troubled rescue dog she had adopted. With the help of a local trainer, she helped him conquer his extreme fearfulness, and soon started training other dogs as well. Teaching puppy and basic obedience classes around the Lowcountry, Cindy learned to treat reactivity issues, separation anxiety, and aggression problems using positive, reward-based behavior modification techniques. Cindy continues to enhance her education through ongoing professional development, and was a featured presenter at the initial Control Unleashed® Online Conference, sponsored by Clean Run. Cindy’s mission is to use her dog training knowledge and skills to help as many dogs as possible – including her own – lead happier, more rewarding lives.
